So what is a Succulent Tapestry? Merriam dictionary defines tapestry as ” a heavy cloth that has designs or pictures woven into it and that is used for wall hangings, curtains, etc. : Something made up of different things, people, colors, etc.”
In the world of succulents, there’s one person that I know who became an expert in the application of tapestry in her designs. My good friend Laura Eubanks, a Succulent Garden designer from San Diego California creates each and every design to a tapestry perfection. During my recent visit in San Diego, I was invited along with my friends Ruth and Loc to visit the garden of Kathy and Jeff of Carlsbad California, one of Laura’s creations.
The welcoming front area starts with an array of Aeoniums planted around Agave attenuata.
It was mid day when we got there and not a perfect timing for taking photos but we manage to take some decent shots to share with you. These are just a tiny portion. The garden is just so beautifully done front, back, sides and every inch of the yard. Every succulents planted are perfectly placed with considerations of their locations and ultimate growth. Note that this is in Southern California which is a perfect weather for succulents. The garden is also being maintained by Laura and her crew. Having a succulent tapestry garden like this takes a special way of care. A “fine gardener” and not your regular mow and blow guy is a good route to go.
One of my favorite area of this garden.
There you have it. I hope you enjoyed the tour.
