As soon as spring starts, many of local home owner’s gardens become available for tour. I really enjoy private garden touring. It is a great way to get new garden ideas. I specially enjoy seeing gardens in Southern California area and when the opportunity to attend the Encinitas garden festival and tour on April 26 became available, I jump at the chance. It was also a chance for my husband Mark and I to spend time with our friends Doug and Ruth Eastman. Ruth & Doug spend most of their time caring and enjoying their beautiful 2 grandchildren and although Ruth can no longer spend as much time in the garden as she used to, I would have to say that she is still an avid gardener, and a succulent fanatic. Ruth and Doug were so gracious to host us for our 3 night stay. They are the best hosts ever. Staying with the Eastmans beat any of the 5 star accommodations that we have ever stayed at. Seriously.
Part one of this blog will be a small peak of the Eastman’s garden and a few photos of the Succulent Cafe in Oceanside California .
Meet our hosts and good friends Doug and Ruth Eastman
Before we arrived at the Eastman’s home, we decided to make a stop at the Succulent Cafe in Oceanside. This cafe has been talked about by Succulent Fanatics and publicized at local newspapers. I just have to go and check it out. It was mid day when we got there. Bad timing for photos so, excuse the poor exposures. Succulent Cafe is a very small alley type cafe decorated with succulents mostly in re purposed container. Yes, they serve coffee only. No lunch.
Hope you enjoyed part one of this little adventure. Please feel free to make comments and share on your page.
Stay tune for Part 2, touring of Encinitas Gardens.
Till next time.
